MI-MABAS Congratulates Fire Chief Steve McGee on his retirement

On Tuesday November 21, 2023 Village of Holly Fire Chief Steve McGee is retiring after a long (Very Long!) and distinguished career. Starting as a Fire Cadet for Groveland Twp on October 11, 1974, Chief McGee rose through the ranks and became the Fire Chief in 2001. In 2008, Chief McGee assumed the dual role of Fire Chief for the Village of Holly. In 2018, Chief McGee retired from the Groveland Twp Fire Department and concentrated on his role of Fire Chief and Building Official for the Village of Holly.

While Chief McGee’s accomplishments are many, he has been very instrumental in helping MI-MABAS and MI-TF1. Chief McGee was among a key group of individuals who brought MABAS to Michigan and forming the first Division, 3201 (Oakland County) Chief McGee served for 4 years as the President of Division 3201. Chief McGee’s knowledge of Incident Management helped advance the Incident Management Team program in Michigan.

Chief McGee has played many key roles for MI-TF1 including being a founding member in 2007. Further, Chief McGee’s leadership and building experience was crucial to MI-TF1 being able to move into the current MOB Center that was built specifically for it’s needs.

Congratulations are well deserved for Chief McGee, but hopefully he will not wander too far away and continue to help MI-MABAS move forward.
