The 2024 Hurricane Season has been remarkably quiet especially considering the prediction was for more named storms and major hurricanes than in recent years. This does not mean we should be complacent – everyone needs to continue to be prepared to head out the door at a moment’s notice.

Have you seen the aurora borealis this year?  Solar storms have been prevalent lately and the aurora is visible much further south than normal, sometimes only through the camera on your phone (as evidenced by this photo taken from my front porch).
A large solar flair with a coronal mass ejection caused NOAA to issue a G3 geomagnetic storm alert for 9/16. More solar storms are expected for 2024, which could very well mean more opportunities to see the northern lights!
